Life Lessons of a Stock Market Trader – Ali’s Trading Diary (day 5)

April 9, 2015 By Nick

13th June 2014 – Day 5

Up early and off to make a coffee then have a look at ‘the markets’ in the hope that I might have something meaningful to say to Nick when we speak, can hear his answer already though…’that’s as good a story as anyone else’s…’ lol Spoke to Nick and decided to sell the Dow again at 16715, placed the trade and keeping fingers crossed. Much more volatility day today and the stop loss saved me at 2pm. I’m out of the trade but still well up on the week. Decided to place another trade as there is quite a lot of movement today. Really have no story to tell myself at all other than thinking of a news report about the BOE maybe raising interest rates. The market moved sharply up overnight so I wonder if it might drop back… but that’s only after I’ve tossed a coin to decide between the Dow and Cable and so off we go. Sell trade placed on Cable at 1.69546… it immediately goes red. Have checked in a few times over the rest of the day but signing off now at 8pm with it down £40.50. Still well within or expectations for the week but I can’t deny that a winning trade to end the week would have been nice. Placed 5 won 2, lost 2 and one live…

Will check in again on Monday…

Another trade completed today at a loss and another one placed which sits roughly at the level it was placed as we sign off from Ali’s first week trading. Overall it’s been going as I expected with the emotions and questions that I expected. The only way you learn is by doing and that’s what Ali is doing, we’re half way through the agreed 10 trade experiment and Ali is up £400 with one trade live. So far so good but I’m sure there will be lots more lessons to be learnt in the coming 5 trades.
